The Anonymous Art Awards
presented by Miklos Legrady
along with
Those Who Wish To Remain Anonymous.
The Anonymous Art Awards will celebrate and honor those artists
who have shown excellence this year but wish to remain anonymous.
The art community, while an endearing crowd,
like all groups will enforce their own sense of social conformity.
Some artists on the other hand are shy, socially inept, or badly confused.
Anonymous art could be more interesting than art history; it’s a known fact.
This is an opportunity to let your imagination soar
to what those anonymous works would be, could be…
if we could but see them.
Awards will be presented in all media categories.
Unfortunately, the artwork could lead to indentifying the artists,
so no work may be entered in the competition or shown to the public.
As the winners are anonymous, there’ll be no need for prizes,
nor walking up to the podium under the glare of spotlights.
In fact, since the winners won’t show up and no work is entered or chosen,
there’s no need for expensive award presentations,
which have been very successfully cancelled.

A Metamodern Spsace for Sale

This work functions on many levels.
Obviously, it satires a money-oriented art mafia.
Yet some did not get it, according to an email from an angry student
who took the work at face value, shaming the artist’s lack of integrity.
The work also expands the art magazine paradigm
which consists of writing critique and showing art:
here the writing and images got confused,
like twins sometimes do as to who is who,
giving extra layers to the layering of meaning.
I do like the idea of expanding the critical text paradigm
by making the text into images of the art which it portrays.
A different shade of self-criticism.
Each year a new crop of fine arts graduate students seek exhibition space
and critical attention in a crowded field.
To get an edge in a competitive market, and simplify the submission process
you can now buy exhibition space and place your image on my canvasses,
getting exposure as part of a legitimate show, in credible galleries or museums,
whenever my work gets chosen by a curator or jury.
